Good now lets move on. All this worship and paires and fanantisim for a man who might have been great as once but repeatedly disgraced himself and yet on it goes. what about the other great people who just died? Who lived longer and contributed more to the entertainment industry yet one over cut, pasty, creepy, has been, who did some rather nasty things (though some people would like to deny it... kinda like a mini holocaust, yes I know this will not make me popular), sorry you do not pay out as many times with as much money if you are just so innocent, if we have learned anything from the Catholic Church.

Farah died, a great humanitarian, a great actress, a very human person, who struggled with such a crippling disease, where is her parade? Ed McMahn, Carson's side kick, one of the early contributors to a great entertainment legacy, glanced over, and almost forgotten immediately, his long and full career over shadowed by a man who died of a "heart attack" (said this way cause I'm sure there are going to be investigations, I'm thinking possible suicide ruling). Heck even David Caradine, his private life splattered all over the screen and tossed aside with know regard for his privacy or his family. Sigh, who's up next and what have we come to?

Thanks.
I'm having a hard time identifying the parts they give me and what they add to the kimono, let alone where they are in the outfit and which fabric I should make them out of.
I've decided to try and make this costume pattern into a furisode-esque kimono.
What makes a good furisode obi? That's the one thing I'm focusing on right now and I'm not sure how I should go about making it a tiny bit authentic. My inner Japanese girl is crying...
Ok breathe. Start sending me notes and I can help. If you look on the pattern it will tell you what is what. The long panpel with a small notch at the top is usually the back. the long pieces with a diaginal cut is usually your front. You should have a collar which is a long thin rectangular piece and sleeves the have a rounded corners.

I would say silk or brocade is a typical Furisode but any way you go, go light weight and good quality.

If you are focused on the obi a heavy simple brocade or tapestry, reenforce it with a thick interface or plastic boarding.

I've got the bulk down but I can't find much information on what a furisode obi looks like. Is it long, is it tied a certain way? I feel that the pattern is just really half-assed by some random costume designers. I guess what I'm trying to say is what kind of obi is used for furisode?
Hope you got my note if not send me a note and I will keep guiding you through this minefield

I got it. I'm just plowing through this project, I'm doing it for school so I'm on a time schedule. But I think I'll be fine now. Thanks. C:
Ok yes you want long, 3 yards or so. You also want to creat a small pillow and a stiff board covered in fabric that gets placed behind the obi (it's what makes it smooth, oh the things I learn AFTER making this stuff) the pillow will be placed inside/behind a lot of the bows to give them loft. And don't worry there are many ways to tie an obi, also many ways to ceat on making one or even creating a stick on bow. :) Two good books for beginners is Making Kimonos and Japanese CLothing, and The Book of Kimono, Amazon carries both.
