Description

ok so this is a close up of the outer material and the inner material. I cut Long lapels so I could get more drag to the train, the lower section I put a beautiful red quilting in just a nice trim leading into the black cottong. I live in a hot dry climate, there is no way to let brocade sit next to the skin without dying and connot is cooler (plus it wicks) and silk is really expensive (plus I can\'t find one I really like). I am an American designer so there are Some differences in construction (usually in the lining) but I am looking forward to repairing damaged kimonos and working with authentic Japanese materials in my new creations

Silk is expensive, but it all depends on where you live. Join the Joann Fabrics mailing list at your local Joann's store - I suggest by email since it's fastest. You can can get coupons for 40%-50% off a non-sale item, as well as 20% coupons for your total purchase. So it really helps and works best if you say buy a non-sale fabric - make sure it's the only thing you purchase so you can give them the 40% coupon at the cutting counter and 20% at the register. (I work at Joann's FYI). Also, I see that you're in SoCal - I used to lvie in the O.C. If you're within a reasonable amount of time/distance from Los Angeles, go to the fabric/fashion district. There you'll find a few blocks of fabric, and just fabric (and notions and what not) for really really good wholesale/retail prices - ranging from less than a dollar and up. Always try and haggle the prices down :3. The fabric is good too, because it's pretty much what you'll find in any fabric/sewing related store and probably more. Plus, you can always stop in Little Tokyo for fun. And of course, you're always bound to meet some other random cosplayer.

If you live in the SD area, try posting on cosplay.com about arranging a trip so you can carpool or something. Or just post about a trip in general.
