So I have found a bit of energy and I am directing it in a creative direction. I am slowly but surly listing the hats on etsy, skirts and petticoats and dresses to follow. I found a foam dress form I really like so I will be using her to make baseline dresses, she has a bust of 38 and they are ample at that (it's from the 1970's). I should have some draped patterns ready to go soon enough.
I have a couple of people courting me for commissions and I'm definitely interested in doing them, I love that creative push and this time I Will make patterns and keep them
. On top of that I have at least one fashion show I need to prep for and several school projects, including a trench coat, and a couple of capelettes.
Conventions, well seeing as my school money is PAST LATE I had divert a significant amount of funds from the Cons I just did into doing things like paying for food, bills, gas, and the like. I am trying to get into Anime Conji (I loved it so much!) for 2012 but I need a little over $200 to get the size space I want and I need to get it ASAP. 8X16 feet, it would be the biggest booth I have ever had but it would also mean I would have the most clothing I have ever had. AC12 is coming up in March or April so I would be using a few dress patterns that I made on hand and I would do several dresses with slight variations. I will have at least a summer dress (light just straps so you can put a light blouse underneath), a sleeveless dress (again with room for a blouse) lowish cut, and hopefully an over dress and a full dress.
My style of clothing is sleek with simple lines and clean finishes, I do this so that the dress is more open to accessories options. I love (!) those dresses that I call lacy cakes, loves of lace and ruffle and whatnot, I'm still learning how to do those (and they will be quite expensive) but those limit the options of what you can put with it. I prefer to let the wearer choose their look and a "simple" dress is the best way to start that off.
Also I will have a ton of hats! I may not bring my things to do the on the spot hats but then again that will free me up to do customer service! Maid's caps, headbands, bonnets and more will be available.
As far as planned Conventions (ones I am already in) I am in Anime Expo 2012. I will be trying for A2M in June, possibly gaslight in May, Comic Con in July, and let me know if there are any others out there.
